+ Special Announcement – Schedule Change

Dear Muralists,

I apologize for the great inconvenience, but due to the high volume of work in the field, I am rescheduling the Great American Muralist Competition for April 2013.  I feel that having the competition in Tucson’s off season will allow more time for planning and organization.  We want a great show, so need our full committee and time to plan and get proper sponsorship.  This will benefit the muralists.  So Please…..

Mark your calendars for the 2nd Annual Great American Muralist Competition to be held April 2013 in Tucson, Arizona.  We will be competing at the 2013 Spring SAHBA Homeshow in the Arena.  A great venue with lots of publicity and an audience of 12,000+ visitors.  Muralists please fill out the 2012 Application to Participate early, the listing of muralists is chronological to entry, and early entry gets you preferential listing!

The events will be bigger and better than the 2011 GAMC.  Please stay tuned for prize money amounts, party venues, charity auction details, and who will be entered this year!

Your Director,   Annie Margarita

+ Charity Auction a Success!

Many Thanks to all the participants of the 2011 Great American Muralist Competition Charity Auction and Artist Party.  Bushi’s selection of entries and the atmosphere of the new paintings from the Competing Muralists and Bella Parisi, plus singing by Joel Eliot made the evening a quick start to a Great Time!  We played a few games including “Portrait Quick Draw”, “Answer Annie’s Silly Questions” and had a few prizes!

Congratulations to the Selling Muralists – Christine Lytwynczuk, Jennifer Higgins, Nussara Cregan, Esteban Camacho Steffensen, Charlie Burton, Bella Parisi, and Annie Margarita!  We also could of sold the paintings of Jos Villabrille, Joe Pagac and Paul Barker, but the Great American Muralist Competition has retained these works for future shows to bring interest to this International Event.  Please Contact these artists if you would like to commission a similar artwork.

We have collected funds for Charity including:  Youth on Their Own – $125.; Big Brothers/Big Sisters $200.; Boys and Girls Club $100.; Emerge Battered Women’s Shelter $187.; and UNICEF $130.  Thank you to the Purchasers and the Muralists for these contributions.

Purchasers include:  Mike Cardenas, Mike Parisi, Jeff Lang, Rod Davidson, Stephanie Garcia and Erma Parisi. Thank you Very Much for making our Event a Success!!!

+ Competition Theme Announced

Announcing the 2011 Great American Muralist Competition Theme

Robert Frost - The Road Not Taken

The Road Not Taken

by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
